Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For an OTDR (Optical Time Domain reflectometer) type strain measurement system, we derive theoretically the shape of the Brillouin gain spectrum produced in an optical fiber with a parabolic-shaped strain distribution in the fiber length direction. The parabolic strain distribution is formed in a beam to which a uniformly distributed load is applied, and it is as fundamental as a linear strain distribution. Based on the derived result, we investigate the effects of measurement conditions such as the launched pulse width and the measurement position on the beam and the second-order coefficient of the quadratic function, which is the parabolic strain distribution parameter, on the deformation of the Brillouin gain spectrum shape. In addition, we investigate numerically the relationship between strains actually produced and obtained by the system.
