Birefringence axis of fiber Fabry-Perot etalons in asymmetrical ferrules

Abstract(in English) Transmission spectra of fiber Fabry-Perot etalons (FFPE) revealed periodic double peaks due to birefringence. The amount of bireflingence and its principal axis direction are investigated for FEPEs whose ferrule sides are asymmetrically deformed by shaving off. It is found that the birefringence tends to increase and the principal axis tends to align toward the shaved planes.
