Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a novel power converter without any switching operation, which works as a linear amplifier. The main circuit of the proposed converter consists of twelve MOSFETs connected in series, 12 dc power supplies and clamp diodes like a diode-clamped multi-level inverter circuit. Two MOSFETs of 12 series MOSFETs are used at saturating state just like a linear amplifier, while the other MOSFETs operates at on or off state like an inverter circuit. As a result, the proposed converter circuit achieves an acceptable efficiency as high as 90% without any switching operation. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed converter has capability of driving a three-phase induction motor rated at 2.2 kW.
