Abstract(in English) | The notion of light field provides a framework where all the light-rays traveling in 3-D space are described for visual representation, and is used for 3-D measurement, object recognition, image synthesis, and 3-D display. One of the technical issues in handling light fields is the large data amount; light field data is typically represented as a set of dense (narrow interval) multi-view images, and the data amount increases explosively as the description accuracy increases (i.e., using finer resolutions and more viewpoints). Meanwhile, light field data is highly redundant, because it consists of images seeing the same objects from slightly different positions. Therefore, by fully utilizing this redundancy, it is expected that light field data can be treated in a compressive form while keeping the quality. From this perspective, this talk is focused on compressive technologies on light fields, introducing our recent studies on compressive light-field acquisition using a coded aperture camera, and compressive light-field display using stacked layers. |
