A study of Group Delay Measurement Method by Using Brillouin Scattering

Abstract(in English) Low latency transmissions are enthusiastically needed in today’s optical network. Especially in long distance transmission, such as trans-continental optical systems, the group-delay decreased optical fiber is gathering many attentions. Conventionally, the time-of-flight measurement by using of pulse laser is adopted as the measuring method of the group delay of optical fibers. However, this method will not be widely applied due to the necessity of measuring the fiber length in high-precision. We have already proposed a new group-delay-measurement method by utilizing Brillouin scattering. Because proposed method can get rid of the measurements of fiber length, we can expect to apply this method widely compared to conventional method. In this paper, we proposed and confirmed the improvement which enables proposed method to be efficient.
