Abstract(in English) | This paper presents physical-layer cell identity (PCID) detection probability using frequency offset estimation and compensation for 5th generation (5G) new radio (NR). We compare the detection probabilities of primary synchronization signal (PSS) and PCID by using the cross-correlation and auto-correlation based detection methods for estimating the PSS received timing, PSS sequence, and frequency offset. Computer simulation results show that the cross-correlation based detection method achieves the higher PCID detection probability compared to the auto-correlation based detection method for the maximum frequency offset less than approximately 12 kHz. We also show that cross-correlation based detection method achieves the higher PCID detection probability compared to the auto-correlation based detection method for the carrier frequency of less than approximately 18 and 14 GHz in the average received SNR per receiver antenna of 0 and 10 dB, respectively, and otherwise the auto-correlation based detection method achieves the higher PCID detection probability than the cross-correlation based detection method, when the frequency error of a standard oscillator of user equipment is 1 ppm with 2-antenna receiver diversity. |
