An RF Parameter Measurement Scheme Utilizing Optical Phase Modulation via Electro-Optic Effect

Abstract(in English) Recently, RF signals are applied in communication and ranging, so that parameter measurement of RF signal also very significant. By employing lightwave, RF signals in higher frequency bands are facilitated much more. Here we propose an RF parameter measurement utilizing lightwave, where the lightwaves modulated by RF signals together with a low-frequency signal at the same time, and it is converted into a voltage signal by using a low bandwidth photodiode (PD). We theoretically shown that the output voltage depends on the amplitude and phase of the RF signal under test. Using such a dependence, RF signal parameter has been successfully estimated.
