Abstract(in English) | With the advent of high throughput wireless LAN (WLAN) devices compliant with the IEEE 802.11ac standard, WLAN has become widely disseminated in a variety of fields in recent years. However, the expansion of WLAN devices has resulted in the throughput degradation due to mutual interference between multiple WLAN devices, particularly in areas of dense deployment. To address this issue, the standardization activities of the next generation wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11ax) started its Study Group in May 2013 to increase the system throughput in dense environments. The draft 3.0 standard was released in June 2018 and on-going technical discussions continue in order to develop a final specification documents by January 2020. To improve the utilization efficiency of frequency, the simultaneous communication technologies such as Uplink Multi-User MIMO (UL-MU-MIMO) and Downlink/Uplink Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (DL/UL-OFDMA) are adopted in IEEE 802.11ax standard. In addition, a higher modulation level 1024-QAM is also adopted. We are contributing to the IEEE 802.11ax standardization activities by making technical proposals and evaluating the system throughput simulation since the launch of the Study Group. In parallel, we developed a wireless system LSI complying with the draft specifications of IEEE 802.11ax, and have been working to ensure the effectiveness of the IEEE 802.11ax standard including improvement of the throughput using the LSI. In this paper, we introduce the overview of IEEE 802.11ax standard and our system LSI development activities of IEEE 802.11ax. |
