[Invited Lecture] Examination of Clutter Losses for Satellite Communications using Urban Areas Scale Model

Abstract(in English) In order to promote common use with a satellite or an airplane communication and land mobile communications such as a cellular system, the examination of the loss (clatter loss) which occurs with a buildings etc. is advanced by ITU-R SG3. In order to clarify the elevation angle characteristics of a clatter loss, basic examination was performed and the measurement using scale models were performed. The relation between a clatter loss and an elevation angle was derived using the conventional prediction equation for path loss in microcell. Moreover, the excess loss against an elevation angle was measured using 1/125 scale models of uniform urban model and the Kokura area model. The obtained results were compared with the ITU-R P.2108 model.
