A comprehensive survey on NIDS acceleration techniques

Abstract(in English) As high-bandwidth networks become widespread, demand for high-speed Network Intrusion Detection System(NIDS) is increasing. The pattern matching used in NIDS needs to detect thousands of known attack patterns in real time. Since it is relatively easy to parallelize the pattern matching, multicore processors such as Graphics Processing Unit(GPU) and Network Processing Unit(NPU) are often used for parallelization. In this paper, we will investigate in detail the high-speed NIDS. We think that a problem and the future prospects on speeding up NIDS in this investigation were provided.
