Numerical analysis of a polarization conversion metallic plate using a rectangular hole array

Abstract(in English) A metallic plate with a rectangular hole array is analyzed using the finite-difference time-domain method with the periodic boundary condition. Taking advantage of the extraordinary transmission phenomena, we achieve an almost 100% transmittance together with polarization conversion from a linearly to a circularly polarized wave. The converter operates over a wide frequency range of 15.07GHz to 17.38GHz with a thickness of only 5mm. It is found that the pseudo surface plasmon is significantly generated when the photonic crystal resonance occurs. Another model with a thickness of 20mm leads to the fact that high transmittance and excellent ellipticity can be obtained at nearly the same frequency, even for a finite periodic case.
