Exploring Nerve Response Mechanism During Millimeter Wave Exposure

Abstract(in English) The electromagnetic exposure to human may affect most skin structures located in the epidermis and dermis, where free nerves ending (unmyelinated C-fibers) are located. These nerve pathways are involved in perceiving nociceptive pain. The mechanisms of nerve response to electromagnetic wave exposure are electrostimulation and thermal effect. However, the mechanism, including the transition from stimulation to heating, is not fully understood. This study implements a C-fiber model to investigate electrostimulation and thermals effects to investigate millimeter wave exposure in the context of human safety.
