Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | With the expansion of network users and applications, the network traffic is still growing and a better sharing of limited network resources is required. For fair and efficient resource sharing, an adaptive and flexible routing control including unconstraint multicast is useful, for which SDN (Software-defined networking) technology is essential. OpenFlow is the first SDN component with commercial success and easily available for education and research in universities. OpenFlow allows us to design and prototype networking schemes involving flexible multicasting, which were enjoyable only by simulation before. In this report, the multipath-multicast file transfer from a single sender to multiple recipients and the network-cooperative active measurement to monitor all links are introduced. In the former, a file to transfer is divided into equally-sized blocks; different blocks are concurrently transmitted to the same recipient over multiple paths while the same block is concurrently transmitted to multiple recipients by multicast; resulting in a shorter reception completion time of each recipient. In the latter, prove packets are forwarded through every link (in both directions) only once to reduce the traffic load on the network. Then, the variance of arrival intervals of the prove packets at each switch port is collected to estimate the variance of packet delay on each link, in which the sequential order of the collections is controlled so as to reduce the number of collections before locating bad links with large delay variance; resulting in a shorter time for locating bad links and a lower overhead of accessing switches. |
