A study of LLR modulation using neural network decision

Abstract(in English) In our previous research, we focused on a log-likelihood ratio (LLR) computed as the decoding reliability by a posteriori probability (APP) decoder for low-density parity-check (LDPC) coding and iterative decoding in shingled magnetic recording (SMR), and showed that an effective iterative decoding can be realized by modulating the LLR with a high possibility of correct decoding. In this report, we propose the LLR modulator which discriminates LLRs of APP decoder output using neural network and modulates the LLR whose results by the neural network accord with those of hard decision. Furthermore, we study the performance improvement of the iterative decoding. The result shows that the correct LLRs can be selected and modulated with higher probability and an effective iterative decoding can be performed.
