Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) As typical binary modulation schemes of turbo code, pulse position modulation (PPM) and on-off keying (OOK) are well known. Although the transmission efficiency of OOK turbo code system is better than that of PPM turbo code system, the OOK turbo code system is inferior to the PPM turbo code system in bit error rate (BER) performance. The PPM turbo code system and the OOK turbo code system have its merits and demerits. A hybrid PPM-OOK turbo code system which fuses effectiveness in OOK and PPM called hybrid PPM-OOK signaling (HPOS) has been proposed. In this study, the optical wireless punctured turbo code system using HPOS is investigated. The effective information rate (capacity) of the proposed system is evaluated by computer simulation. The capacity of the proposed system is 1.3 time better than that of the conventional PPM turbo code system. Compared to conventional OOK system, the proposed HPOS system can achieve enhancement of 6.4 dB when reaching the maximum effective information rate of the HPOS system. It is shown that the proposed system has tolerances to the background noise and attenuation.
