Abstract(in English) | We propose a non-volatile optical memory consisting of a silicon microring resonator (MRR) and a magneto-optical (MO) material and employing an MO recording scheme. We demonstrate operations of a writing and reading respectively as an early stage of this research. Firstly, we report heating of a metal heating layer loaded on an MRR by a guided lightwave. As a result we achieve an increase of temperature of the heating layer which is more than 300℃. Secondly, we fabricated an MRR formed by a-Si:H on an MO material, Ce:YIG. By reversing a direction of an applied current in an electrode which generates a magnetic field, we observe a magneto-optical shift and a change of a transmittance of an MRR. It means we achieve an operation of reading. |
