Resonant frequency of an enclosure with multiple slits

Abstract(in English) On shielding design by using a metallic enclosure, deterioration of shielding performance due to cavity resonance is a serious issue because it cannot be avoided in principle. The equation estimating resonant frequencies in a perfect rectangular enclosure is well-known. When the enclosure having slits, it is very difficult to know the frequencies because those vary depending on its structure. In this article, the resonant frequencies of the enclosure with multiple slits on side walls are discussed. By modeling the effect of slits with an equivalently enlarged perfect enclosure, a novel equation for the resonant frequencies is obtained. The validity of the equation is confirmed by comparing with experimental results.
