| Abstract(in English) | Firstly, this report reviews conventional applications of time-to-digital converter (TDC), which extracts digital signals using time information, into wireless transmitters and receivers. Focusing upon the applications into wireless receivers, the report explains a specific scheme that extracts digital signals from received signals. Specifically, it reviews the conventional scheme that exploits cross timing between baseband periodic signals and a reference signal, and that performs discrete Fourier transform (DFT) of the baseband periodic signals. Enhancing such a conventional algorithm, we propose two schemes: Using information on the cross timing, one performs DFT of bandpass periodic signals whereas the other extracts sampled baseband signals from bandpass non-periodic signals. The two proposed schemes are expected to reduce circuit size and power consumption of the wireless receiver and to improve its performance. |
