[Invited Talk] Discussion of Frequency-Dependent Decay Rate for Damped Oscillation Model in Social Networks

Abstract(in English) Dynamics concerning the propagation of activities on social networks formed by exchange of information via Social Networking Services (SNSs) such as Facebook and Twitter is one of interesting study targets. In previous works, we have considered an oscillation model to describe the propagation of activities on social networks, and have shown that the oscillation energy can not only provide a underlying mechanism of the conventional node centricity indices such as the degree centrality and the betweenness centrality but also reflect various network conditions. Generally, there are various phenomena that the user's attention to specific events diminishes with time, and these can be represented by damped oscillation on the network. How should we decide the decay rate representing the damping strength of the damped oscillation on the social network? In this research, we investigate a damped oscillation model in which the decay rate depends on the frequency on the network and discuss the aspect of the natural decay rate on the social network.
