| Abstract(in English) | In current service chaining technologies, carriers mainlyapply appropriate processing to packets on an communicationpath. However, it is quite difficult for application users toapply appropriate processing to application data if usingcurrent service chaining technologies. In this paper, Application Function Chaining (AFC), which enables applicationusers to apply Application Functions (AFs) to application datain the communication path. AFC also provides branched and/or mergedcommunication paths. In this paper, a prototype AFC was implementedand basic performances of it were evaluated. The result showed thatnetwork delays were dominant in an overhead of establishing a communication path with AFC. Thus, it showed AFC was rather suitable for data processing applicationsthan applications with rapid invocation. |
