Abstract(in English) | Optical unitary converter (OUC) is a device that can convert multiple mutually orthogonal optical modes into another set of mutually orthogonal modes. If we could realize arbitrarily reconfigurable OUC circuit on a compact integrated photonic platform, it could be used in various applications, including all-optical multi-input multi-output (MIMO) processor in space-division multiplexed (SDM) optical communication systems, high-speed deep-learning chip based on optical neural networks, and quantum computing. To this end, we have recently proposed novel arbitrary OUC circuits based on multi-plane light conversion (MPLC) concept, and developed silicon-photonic circuits to demonstrate their performances. In this talk, we briefly explain the basic concepts and principle of our proposed devices and review recent progresses. |
