Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The previous research of the frontal EEG asymmetry of mood and emotion has reported that the left frontal EEG activation relates the positive affect and the right frontal activation does the negative affect. In the present research, we studied whether the music preference was discriminated by using the frontal EEG asymmetry as a feature. The discrimination results were compared with those using EEG power in the frequency domain. We analyzed whether the frontal EEG power asymmetry ratio changed by like/dislike music, and the asymmetry ratio was used for the discrimination. The leave-one-out cross validation test was conducted using LDA and SVM. As a result, the frontal EEG asymmetry ratio could not discriminate the music preferences whereas the EEG power could do it on four or five subjects. Therefore, it suggests that it is difficult to discriminate the music preference using the frontal EEG asymmetry ratio. We should use the EEG power in frequency domains as a feature.
