[Technology Exhibit] Experimental Evaluation of Co-existence for Wireless Communication Systems Using 920 MHz-band

Abstract(in English) In recent years, the applications of wireless communication systems using the 920 MHz-band such as the power smart metering system are widely spreading. The 920 MHz-band systems have less interference and better reachability of radio waves compared with the 2.4 GHz-band systems such as the wireless Local Area Network (LAN), while the interference may increase due to further spread of systems in the 920 MHz-band. However, the evaluation of the co-existence for wireless communication systems applying different MAC protocols is not sufficient yet. In this report, we experimentally evaluate the co-existence of heterogeneous wireless communication systems using the 920 MHz-band in the home environment; a system based on the Wireless Smart Utility Network (Wi-SUN) Home Area Network (HAN) profile that has become widespread already, and a system based on the Wi-SUN Japan Utility Telemetering Association (JUTA) profile which has the feature that the terminal can be driven with very low power consumption. Then we analyze the transmission performance of the JUTA profile-based system by proposed analysis scheme and show that the analysis drives similar characteristics to the experimental results.
