Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In edge computing environment, edge servers close to end-user devices need to serve them, to achieve low-latency responsiveness. Migration of virtual servers following the end-user devices is considered by the researchers, to retain the low-latency responsiveness for handover of an end-user device. Virtual machines (VMs) and containers are the popular techniques to implement virtual servers. However, both of them have a limitation on scalability of migration to many end-user devices and ASPs although there are many end-user devices and many application servers in edge computing environment. In this paper, we propose the implementation model of virtual servers utilizing containers inside VMs on a physical server. The model improves the parallelism of migration, because the containers in the VMs are created on the independent systems even if being on the same physical server. We conducted the experiments to compare the virtual server implementations by VMs and containers. From the results, the proposed implementation model has the better parallelism of migration. Furthermore, the low-latency responsiveness recovers more quickly for handover of end-user devices.
