Loss affect to the Estimation of a Rebar

Abstract(in English) Rebar can be easily detected by using concrete radar. However, the covering depth and rebar diameter required for safety inspection is not accurately estimated. We have proposed a method to simultaneously estimate the relative permittivity of concrete, the position of rebar and the diameter of rebar using electromagnetic wave pulse. Using the proposed method, it was not possible to estimate the diameter of the rebar with sufficient accuracy for the measured data.In this paper, when the conductivity exists, the pulse width widens according to the propagation distance, so it is clarified that the arrival time changes. We discuss the method of correcting the arrival time and estimating the diameter of the rebar.
