Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this study, the reliability of using phosphene in intuitive walking support system for blind people has been investigated. The system obtains the information of obstacles’ positions and indicates the information using phosphene. In fact, phosphene is a phenomenon that is perceived as a flash of light once the electrical stimulus is given to visual pathway. Theoretically, the electrical current should flow through retinae in the situation of putting electrodes on the face. However, our previous works proved that the phosphene is indicated at the different positions from the above theory. Therefore, in this paper, the phosphene position is studied when the retina and electrodes placement are varied. As the result, the mechanism of the phosphene will be clarified from the variation of its position.
