Abstract(in English) | Research and development of edge computing (EC) technology that provides services at edges of networks are accelerating at a fast pace as a critical technology for realizing the fifth generation mobile communication system and IoT. It is essential to guide traffic effectively and efficiently to an EC server in order to realize the EC environment. In particular, in the case of a client equipped with multiple network interfaces, it needs to use a proper network after investigating the status of the network to which each interface connects. In this paper, we propose a client-based network selection method to effectively utilize multiple network interfaces in an EC environment. The proposed method provides the following three features, a name resolution via multiple interfaces, network measurement with multiple interfaces, and insertion of EC and congestion flags into an ICMP reply packet. Also, the proposed method can independently work with network-based traffic control. Besides, this paper showed the usefulness of this proposed method through operation verification by a simple prototype. |
