Nonlinear Tolerance Using Short Pulse Transmission for the Standard Single Mode Fiber

Abstract(in English) In the long distance optical fiber transmission system, the amplified spontaneous emission noise includes degradation of signal-to-noise ratio due to the low received power. One of the way to achieve the high received power is to make the launch power high. But too high launch power induces the signal distortion and inter-symbol interference (ISI) due to the nonlinear effect, which results in the degradation of signal quality. To mitigate the nonlinear effect we propose the short pulse transmission and correlation detection. The short pulse transmission induces less ISI due to nonlinear effect because of less signal overlap. The correlation detection enables us to achieve high signal quality in spite of the distorted signal. In this paper, we investigate the improvement of nonlinear tolerance using short pulse for the standard single mode fiber. And we investigate the relation of signal bandwidth, waveform in optical fiber and the improvement of nonlinear tolerance.
