A Parametric Estimation Method for Detecting Aircraft Wake Turbulence Using a Single Doppler LIDAR

Abstract(in English) Doppler light detection and ranging (LIDAR) is expected to accurate detection of wake turbulence occurred after aircraft take-off and landing on runway, thereby reducing air traffic congestion and increasing in safety. In this paper, we propose a wake turbulence detection method based on parametric particle swarm optimization for fitting LIDAR observation to numerical model. A numerical simulation is conducted to evaluate the proposed method. We show that our method can estimate exactly the parameters that represent a wake turbulence and detect a wake turbulence based on parametric estimation.
