Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For humans, there is a characteristic that information associated with a spatial position is easy to memorize. As an efficient data management method on the Virtual Reality space, we have proposed a method that imitates the mechanism of a bookshelf that is easy to memorize information in relation to spatial position. This is to place the data file as the book metaphor in the bookshelf metaphor. Not only is it easy to memorize the data position, but also it is possible to effectively express the data file group of ambiguous classification by forming a spatial group. By the way, when expressing a data file as this metaphor, there is the effect that it is possible to intuitively recognize the information amount of the data file, for example, by the thickness information. Characteristically designing the shapes of multiple metaphors may cause visual features such as relative magnitude relationships. This may aid the spatial memory characteristics of storing the information to be stored together with the surrounding information and the environment. In this paper, we examine the experiment to evaluate the influence of the characteristic metaphor shape on the spatial memory and report the result.
