Abstract(in English) This report discusses fundamental evaluations of aircraft electromagnetic field (EMF) propagation characteristics at 4 GHz Wireless Avionics Intra-Communication (WAIC) band. Since aircraft radio altimeters and WAIC systems are operated at the same frequency band between 4.2 GHz and 4.4 GHz, the spectrum sharing conditions are required to be investigated. The EMF propagation characteristics around the 4 GHz WAIC frequency band are evaluated based on the both numerical analysis and the measurements. Firstly, a large-scale finite-difference time-domain analysis is carried out to obtain the detailed characteristics of the EMF around the three-dimensional Airbus A320 aircraft, which assumes that a WAIC device is located inside the cabin. Secondly, the electric field (E-field) strength which is radiated from the radio altimeter antenna of the Beechcraft B300 aircraft (King Air 350) are measured and evaluated. The measured E-field strength obtained at different height shows typical radiation characteristics of the radio altimeter on the ground.
