Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast) is one of the next generation aeronautical surveillance systems. ADS-B requires aircraft to periodically broadcast their own GPS positions, thereby providing accurate aircraft positions. However, ADS-B is susceptible to false aircraft information injected by malicious users or generated by avionics failures. A promising countermeasure for this problem is position verification using TDOA (Time Difference Of Arrival), but its performance and characteristic should be carefully investigated before deployment. Therefore, the authors have conducted theoretical investigation on the position verification performance such as probability of detection and probability of false alarm. In this technical report, the effect of ADS-B latency, the time difference between the localization and broadcast, on the position verification performance is discussed. The position verification performance is theoretically derived under the effect of the latency. It is shown that probability of false alarm changes depending on the aircraft traveling direction and the hyperbola given by TDOA. Then, applications of the derived formulas are presented such as estimation of probability of detection and determination of a detection threshold that achieves desired probability of false alarm with practical parameter estimations. |
