Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | If the transmission of formant information in speech signal is disturbed by hearing loss, speech articulation decreases. Therefore, we proposed a formant decomposition type of hearing aid method, which selectively amplifies speech formants into his/her audible range using the extracted formant frequencies. However, this method is limited to speech signal with formant. In this study, we propose a new hearing aid method based on an adaptive compression of audible spectral peaks, which extends the idea of selective compression of higher-level bands like formants to non-speech signal. In this paper, we explain the principle of the proposed spectral compression method and then show compression examples using this method using some kinds of signals. We confirmed that the proposed method is able to compress harmonic components of musical tones as well as speech formants and to produce speech with less sound quality degradation. |
