Abstract(in English) Due to a rapid increase in air traffic volume, air traffic management (ATM) has become essential. An aeronautical radio communication system plays an important role in ATM as an information sharing tool among pilots, air traffic controllers, airport operators, airline companies, and aviation authorities. It is a heterogeneous system comprising several radio media, such as satellite, air-to-ground, and airport communications. Herein, the heterogeneous aeronautical radio system is implemented on a hardware using a software-defined radio technique to reduce the system’s size, weight, and price. An evaluation system for an integrated aeronautical mobile communication terminal is developed using a programmable system-on-chip and a wideband transceiver to evaluate the throughputs and frame error rates. Results reveal that the proposed evaluation system works well at several aeronautical frequency bands.
