Abstract(in English) | We demonstrate a real-time photon imager composed of an array of superconducting nanowire single photon detectors (SSPDs) and a single-flux-quantum (SFQ) based event-driven encoder. We constructed a 64-pixel photon imager by implementing the 64-pixel SSPD array and the 64-ch SFQ event-driven encoder in the same 0.1-W GM cryocooler. A real-time signal processing by a field programmable gate array (FPGA) can give us a real-time image of the distribution of the photon detection. We obtained the real-time images of the distribution of the photon detection successfully by irradiating photons to the SSPD array using a continuous wave (CW) laser as a photon source. We evaluated the count rate of the system by controlling the number of photons, and the system operated correctly up to the count rate of 20-30 kcps. In this paper, we report on the detail of our photon imager and the experimental results. |
