Abstract(in English) | Today there is a boom in mountain climbing, and we have developed a system for observing mountain climbers in response to the problem of increasing numbers of climbers requiring rescue. With this system, climbers are observed through server management of position information sent at fixed time intervals by terminals equipped with GPS carried by climbers. Most mountainous regions are outside the service area of mobile phones, and therefore it is necessary to construct new repeater networks in mountainous regions. However, many mountainous regions are designated as national parks, and there are difficulties with installing many repeaters. There is a need to cover an entire mountain, while installing in the mountains a minimum number of repeaters with long communication range operating with low power consumption using solar power. Furthermore, the communication network must exhibit no increase in packet loss when many climbers climb with terminals. This report provides an overview of the mountain climber observation system. It also describes issues for realization, and the new communication system we are currently developing to resolve those issues. |
