Abstract(in English) | This paper presents the average block error rate (BLER) performance of windowed - orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) using faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) signaling in a multipath fading channel. The high-level inter-symbol-interference (ISI) and inter-subcarrier-interference (ICI) for windowed-OFDM are suppressed by using minimum mean square error (MMSE) based turbo soft interference canceller (SIC). Computer simulation results show that the channel-code-block based maximum likelihood detection (MLD) decreases the required received signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) satisfying the BLER of $10^{-2}$ compared to symbol-by-symbol based MLD for the large compression factor $gamma$ such as 1.76 that corresponds to the improvement in the frequency efficiency of the FTN signaling from cyclic prefix (CP) based OFDM, in the first stage of the turbo SIC. We also show that the required average received SNR at the average BLER of $10^{-2}$ for FTN signaling using 16QAM with $gamma$ = 1.30 and 1.37 is decreased by approximately 1.2 and 0.2 dB compared to that with 32QAM for OFDM with CP that achieves the same frequency efficiency. Meanwhile, when $gamma$ is equal or larger than approximately 1.5, the gain in decreasing the required received SNR by applying FTN signaling to QPSK or 16QAM is not obtained compared to CP based OFDM using 16QAM and 64QAM, respectively. |
