Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have improved a system that distinguishes persons from their gait measured by a ceiling infrared sensor network. The two lines of five motion sensors detect a moving object with human temperature and produce binary outputs at 20 Hz. Infrared sensors are not affected by the light condition and have durability, and have advantages such that they protect more privacy of residences than video cameras and are easy to use even for places where eldelies gather. On the other hand, their resolution is far less than those of video cameras and accelerometers. In this study, two-line setting compared with one-line setting showed more efficiency in extraction of the individuality that comes from the difference of the leading legs. We have attained 70% recognition rate for six persons. In addition, we measured the degree of swing when the person walks.
