Measurement of Students' Mental-state in Class through Objective Biometrics and Subjective Questionnaire

Abstract(in English) In educational sites like school, Active Learning is introduced to class to facilitate students' learning. However, there are hardly educational quantitative researches about whether students are facilitated or not. In this paper, we tried to detect students' mental state during the class through biometric methods, measuring the heart-rate. We verified the validity of the result by comparing biometric results with questionnaire, and difference among some classes. In addition, we also compared with biometric results of some experimental tasks. As a result, we found that some indicators related to heart-rate may detect the external factor like environmental one and internal factor like students' utterance or thought.
