Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Although there are many robots claiming to have emotion, but do they really have emotion? My answer is negative for those conventional robots. Humans see emotion in robots because robots are programmed to exhibit behaviors that are intended to make humans see emotion in them. From this observation, we perceive that the robot emotion is actually virtual emotion. Here, we discuss a wider concept of virtual KANSEI with concentration on virtual emotion. This concept was originated from our study on welfare applications of robots and will be discussed in relation to caretaker support robots.
