Liquid phase epitaxy system for the composition optimization of magnetic garnet single-crystal film

Abstract(in English) Single crystalline magnetic garnet films have been attracting much attention because of their importance as a Faraday rotator in optical technologies. Liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) is a one of major technique to make single crystalline magnetic garnet films. However, commercial LPE apparatuses are not suitable for laboratory use since they are relatively large size and composition of the LPE solution are not exchangeable. Therefore, we made small and solution-exchangeable LPE furnace for laboratory use. LPE garnet films were fabricated by the developed LPE furnace, and investigated by a Faraday rotation measurement and domain structure observation. The fabricated LPE garnet films had a typical characteristics of yttrium iron garnet and stripe domain structure.
