Abstract(in English) | Due to recent advancing of AI and big data, interconnection of supercomputer may exceed transmission capacity over Tbps in the near future. In order to achieve transmission capacity over Tbps, optical interconnection techniques are widely researched. Technological history tells us that, not only supercomputer, small IT devices will require such techniques following supercomputer after a few decades. To realize optical interconnection in small IT devices with over Tbps, mode selective light source is one candidate to be integrated for the optical interconnection. We have demonstrated active-MMI mode selective light source. It features; 1) a few space modes selectively, 2) high frequency response (more than 100 GHz is expected at least). Therefore, high frequency response with the combination of mode multiplexing may enables transmission capacity over 100 Gbps. So far, we have demonstrated 0th and 1st mode selective oscillation with actually implemented devices. We have confirmed the fundamental performance of it by monitoring near field patterns, however, mode crosstalk in detail has not been investigated nor evaluated. In this paper, we propose mode crosstalk analysis method by analyzing far field patterns. Output far field pattern of mode selective light source is separated to 0th and 1st mode mathematically. As a result, evaluation results of -10.3 dB for 0th mode selected, and -13.0 dB for 1st mode selected conditions, respectively, were achieved for the first time. |
