Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Mode division multiplexing (MDM) has been widely researched to realize much higher transmission capacity. As mode crosstalk may occur on MDM transmission, most of the research reports have relied on MIMO processing. While non-MIMO transmission is desirable at a short distance communication such as a data center and others as MIMO processing result in a certain latency in addition to the processor cost. In this research, we report about mode maintaining behavior on strongly coupled waveguide. One main cause of its crosstalk has been another mode excitation phenomenon, in addition to the original mode, at bending waveguide. Excitation of another modes in bending waveguide is due to multi-mode waveguide width change against propagation light, so the mode maintaining effect is expected by utilizing strongly coupled multiple narrow waveguides. BPM method was used for the analysis. As a result, it was confirmed that the mode maintainability of the strongly coupled waveguide is higher than that of the regular multimode waveguide at the same waveguide width. |
