Abstract(in English) Silica-based planar lightwave circuits (PLCs) with highly design flexibility and low loss characteristics have provided functional components of optical networks such as Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) optical filters and optical switches and so on. This paper reviews the progress of research and development of high-density integrated silica-based PLCs focusing on the themes that the author engaged.
