Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to cope with an exponentially increase in communication traffic, further network capacity enhancement by improving the frequency utilization efficiency is desired. In this paper, we propose extremely high-density WDM networks that bundle and route optical paths; each path comprises a Nyquist-shaped signal. Bundled-based routing enables finer-granularity frequency assignment than the ITU-T flexible grid while using flexible grid granular switching. Spectrum narrowing restriction caused in WSSs are mitigated by newly developed optical path assignment algorithm. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the number of fibers needed is reduced by 22% in a 16-node ring network.
