| Abstract(in English) | This paper reports a practical service function chaining operated at ShowNet in Interop Tokyo 2018. Interop Tokyo is one of the largest network technology events held in Makuhari Messe every year, andShowNet is a demonstration network constructed at Interop Tokyo. As one of the demonstrations at the ShowNet 2018, we designed and built service function chaining, and provided composite network services comprised of 15 network functions to visitors and exhibitors of Interop. Since OpenFlow appeared, we also tend to leverage SDN and NFV technologies for building service chaining. However, in this year, we leveraged both mature and state-of-the-art IP routing techniques: OSPF and BGP Flowspec. As a result of the use of IP routing and forwarding protocols and hardware as is, our service chaining can reduce additional development and operational costs due to the use of network programmability. In this paper, we describe the design of our practical service chaining and lessons learned at its operation in ShowNet 2018. |
