Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | With the spread of IoT (Internet of Things) equipment in recent years, collection of big data becomes easy, and the demand for data analysis is increasing. However, when analyzing data with a processor, computation speed and power consumption become a problem. Therefore, in this research, the database processing speed is improved using FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) which is a reconfigurable logic device. We design a circuit for filtering processing to extract data satisfying the conditions from the database and evaluate the performance speed and circuit area. At that time, throughput is measured using MySQL which is open source database software, and it is used as a basis for computation of speed in software. Since the filtering process HW and the host PC are connected by PCIe, the data transfer speed is increased by using DMA (Direct Memory Access) for the data transfer between the processor and the FPGA, and the throughput is measured. Throughput increased by 2.28 times compared to MySQL when the data size is 1 MB. However, due to limitations of hardware resources, it is possible to restrict the size of data transfer, which impedes the improvement of throughput. |
