A Study of Real-time Network Failure Analysis for Cloud Network

Abstract(in English) Costs of network outage caused by mis-configurations or silent failures increases every year because cloud networks have been complicated. The problem of mis-configurations is being solved because network verification technology can check validity of configurations. However, trouble shootings of silent failures take several days to several weeks. In this paper, we propose a method that judges and notifies abnormality immediately by inferring normal traffic amount and setting a threshold based on the inferred traffic amount as a trap in each communication relaying apparatus. Outage time of network is shortened as much as possible by using the proposed method. Moreover, we evaluated the proposed method by comparing estimated time to detect silent failure between the proposed method and the existing method. As a result, we found out the proposed method can be usable in a large scale network.
