Abstract(in English) | The local feature extraction used in general object recognition is one of the useful method to recognizethe handwritten chinese characters contained in images such as photographs. In order to recognize handwrittencharacters with variety of character shapes, we studied a method of detecting the end points of the strokes con-structing characters by setting an upper limit on the scale space used for extracting the local features. We also triedto extract the structure of characters by approximating the trajectory between two end points with a straight line. But it is defficult to obtain a high accuracy for the characters with complex curve structures, since intersectionsof line segments and curved shapes informations are not fully extracted in this method. To solve this problem, wepropose the improved method to extract the character structures according to fitting the quadratic curves betweeneach two points. |
