Consideration on precautions on safety-related Ethernet construction

Abstract(in English) Due to the development of general purpose Ethernet equipment it has become widely used even for industrial use. In recent years, it is also used for safety related communication system. However, in a safety-related system, some trouble, for example, an emergency stop signal is not transmitted correctly or the timing is delayed, may lead to an accident. Therefor the authors pointed out (1) the merit on using the industrial ethernet and equipment, and (2) the problems from the safety aspects. Based on these discussion, the problems in the use of non-safety fieldbus for safety-related system were summarized.
